
Former WHJY/Providence Staffers Remember "The Station Fire" 20 Years Later
The Station nightclub fire occurred on February 20, 2003 at The Station, a nightclub and hard rock music venue in West Warwick, Rhode Island. The devastating event killed 100 people and injured 230 during a concert by Great White. One of the victims was WHJY/Providence personality Mike Gonsalves “Dr. Metal” who was the MC for the night. Several of Doc’s friends and colleagues gathered together to remember him and that tragic night 20 years ago.
