We often talk about SEIZING THE MOMENT. I hope your PD and promotional team do this on a regular basis, but don't miss the obvious ones.
Tax Day is coming up in around three weeks. There are ALWAYS TV cameras at post office locations or assignment editors looking for any twist on the same story, every April 15th (or 18th, as the case may be)!
Here are a couple ideas for you:
- Have your morning show print up "Buffy & Zippy Procrastination Certificates" and hand them out Monday evening at a post office good for a free sandwich at XXXXX, or a free ice cream cone at XXXXX.
- Work with a good restaurant client and get a few local accountants or how about this, assistance from the IRS, to join you for lunch and get last-minute help with your taxes. They need good P.R.
- Invite listeners to stop by the station that morning. Your morning show is broadcasting outside the studios and they brought the station postage meter out to stamp your return ... or take it out to a client location for breakfast.
And, of course, set up at the main post office in your town from 8p-mid Monday night. Let the TV stations know you are there and what you are doing. We live in an exposure world now with PPM ... This, my friends, is exposure.
