Yesterday, this column delved into the car dealer mentality. Here's another take ... We recently invited a local automotive GM into our sales meeting and he promised total candor and said our staff could ask him anything.
- "I decide in the first five minutes whether or not I'm going to do business with a media rep."
- "Don't come to my store on Mondays ... I'm trying to catch up from the weekend ... or the last few days of the month ... Thursdays and Fridays are good."
- "Once you get us, if you take care of us, we'll be with you for a long time"
- "We like to engage ... people bust our chops all day long trying to get the best deal ... So I'm going to do it to you ... I want to see how good you are ... plus, it's fun!"
