All good jobs must come to an end someday. If you are removed from your position, do it with class and take the high road. Leave everything you were given (cell phone, computer, cards, etc.) and do not take inside information ... you won't need it anyway. Do not bad-mouth your employer! This is a small business and it gets around. Finally, quietly thank your close staff members and leave with your dignity and pride. There will be another time, another journey and another opportunity. Remain a professional at all times and prove your worth in the next position. Have a great weekend!

Is corporate about to replace you? Here are a few ways to tell. Have they stopped communicating with you? Are your numbers off? Way off? Is it hard to get long-range thinking out of other corporate staff? Are you no longer being asked to provide real budget numbers or updated to corporate? Is your contract up for renewal and there has been no discussion? It may be time to dust off the resume. Tomorrow, thoughts on leaving.

With the local elections getting into high gear, if you are doing a live and local talk show or a remote, how secure is your delay procedures? There are huge fines for dropping the "F" bomb or other dirty words on the air. A friend of mine allowed one to get on the air from a club remote live this past weekend. Not good. Make sure every board op knows what to do. Your PD must train. Ignorance is no excuse.

Welcome back! I hope you had a safe and profitable Labor Day weekend, getting your radio stations out in the community. Okay, it's time to sprint to the end of the year. The presidential election and perhaps the hurricane weather could affect you in the next few days or weeks. If you are on budget through August, there is a real chance to make the year (and some extra $$$). Don't miss a single month. Review the September pacing with your sales manager this morning. Let's hit the month burning rubber. It should be a busy sales week.
