Ask the following question of the PD, GSM, marketing director & music director. (Ask them one on one). "What is the target of the station? Getting different answers? That's a problem with a simple solution. Make sure everyone's on the same page.

Are you broadcasting an HD signal? Explain to the listeners in detail what it means. Don't assume everyone knows. Send them to your web site for further information. Have your promos explain it in "people speak." Many people hear "now broadcasting in HD" and assume they are getting an HD signal on their old analog radio. (Ps, don't get me going on the branding of the entire national HD platform) no matter how you personally feel, remember, your name is on the station. The quality of the HD signal (technically and programming) should be up to the standards of your analog signal, and your own broadcasting standards.

Heading into April you should have 80 to 85% of your total budget for the month on the books as of today if you are going to make it. 75 to 80% you have a chance. 65 to 75% will be hard. Under 65%? No way will you make it. Best re-double your efforts to make calls. April's revenue budget is a big miss. It will be difficult to make it up.

Are you doing everything you can to generate business? Have your sales people said "the market is dead/slow/terrible?" 2008 is tough we all agree, but there ARE advertisers spending money somewhere. Try this; Call the GSM in. Ask him/her to do the following.
a. Get the Sunday paper.
b. Clip every ad. EVERY ONE!
c. Make two piles. One is every account you have called on in the last 5 weeks. The other is every account you HAVE NOT called on in the last 5 weeks. (I'll bet the latter is bigger.)
d. Re-ask if they are doing EVERYTHING THEY CAN (in light of the pile difference) to make the number? -
