As we usually do at this time, let's review the following: the public file, EEO recruitment, political rates, public affairs, payola policy forms for new employees, engineering requirements and tower rules, and the sexual harassment policy. None make you money, but all can cost you if not strictly followed. Have a great weekend!

Do you have your February close done? (You should by now) What are the actual expenses needed to run your cluster for the month. February is known as a clean month. There is usually little promotion/research because you are banking for spring. A review will assist you not only in reporting your Q1 numbers, but also projecting costs for the Spring and Q2.

It's the middle of the month, but it's also the end of the quarter. How did you do? You should know by now. Did you make the revenue goals? How about expenses? If you're short in the revenue department, but "on" at the expense line, you are missing Q1. Let's plan how we are going to try to "make up" in Q2.

Is your Internet revenue budget on plan? What will it cost you for the remainder of 2008 vs. the revenue to date? What is the marketing plan for your streaming and digital content? Have you directed enough people and money into the platform for it to be meaningful? This line has the potential to make or cost you. Even this early in the year, you should have a good idea on how it's going.

One month left in the broadcast quarter. How is pacing for Q2? Now is the time to review your YTD. If your goals for revenue are not what you want them to be, take action now! It may take another six months to get back on track. Have a plan before you are sent one from the corporate office. Can you believe it? It's Spring book time already! Next week, we will address the issues for the Spring book. But this week we have a few housekeeping things to take care of. Meet me here at allaccess.com tomorrow and we will address them one by one.
