Planning the company Christmas Party? Be careful! Hours of open bar can lead to trouble. You are responsible for everything that happens. Limit the "bar" hours. Make sure to arrange for transportation for the people who become "over served." Avoid the "day after" issues that may take you to "Lawyerworld." Have It's not pretty! Don't let holiday parties turn into "helliday" litigation.

How are those after Christmas winter promotions going? Did you take my advice and do client tie-ins with the ski resorts & shops? If you missed your opportunity, now is the time to develop those relationships so you don't get left out in the cold in January and February.

What are you giving your biggest advertisers for the holidays? There should be a "thank you" gift for the top 10 clients from you personally. (Not the same gift the sales department gives to the other 300 clients) plan it now. It doesn't have to be expensive, just personal and creative.

It is never too early to plan the week between Christmas and New Years. Remotes, specials, look for revenue ideas to fill an otherwise dead week. it might be the difference between making the month and missing by a mile.

How many Christmas stations are now on the air in your market? If you are one of them, how are you different from your competitors in the sales approach? Going all Christmas is only valuable if you win the revenue war in addition to the ratings war.
