The other day I suggested you get some turkeys for your staff. Now do something else.

Send a note out to your staff and tell them you want to close the office early to give them a head start on the long holiday weekend. It doesn't have to be a half day, just maybe 3p ... a couple hours early.

Tell them only when everything that is outstanding is in, copy for the long weekend is in, and everything is covered for the long weekend.

One tip: Leave the front desk and phones open. Ask for a volunteer who covers the phones to stay through end of the day and in exhange, they can take an entire half-day at another time. Someone will.

The little things go a really long way ... do it.
