Do you want to hire that killer sales person from across the street? It's getting close to the end of the year and the planning for 2008 has begun. Can they make more money for you than the competition? It may be time to meet them for lunch! Have a great weekend everyone!

If you are not at 80% of your monthly revenue goal by today, you may not make the month. Don't wait for the sales department to realize it. You lose a few sales days at the end of November because of Thanksgiving. Make plans for it now. After Election Day there may be some pent up demand that will quickly diminish. Don't be fooled by political money. It ends next week.

Election Day is coming. In hotly contested areas candidates are pouring on the spots. Although we love the cash in advance (even at the lowest unit rate) listeners are turned off by the constant barrage of nonstop attack ads. It's too late this year, but think about this time next year. Federal money can't be turned down. Plan ahead.

What are you filing your streaming stop sets with? Non-Stop PSA's? There are so many other things to consider besides McGruff The Crime Dog. (No offense to the Ad Council.) Here's a tip, spend a day listening only to your stream. If does not sound as good as your over the air product you have work to do. Ps. Can't we figure this AFTRA thing out? Advertisers want to be on our stream, plus unless you simulcast 100% you get no credit from Arbitron. There must be a better way.

This is the week station GM's start planning for the holidays. Halloween is this week and many stations use their remote vans for club appearances and live broadcasts. Make sure your staff understands the rules regarding drinking and driving. There are plenty of kids on the streets and in the malls. Many stations prohibit their staff from drinking at the late night remotes. There is a lawyer on every corner waiting to "go after" companies that allegedly misbehave. Treat listeners with respect and stay off the front page.
