Is there a club policy for your staff? Late-night remotes can be worrisome. Avoid problems with your "street team" by making sure they know the rules on drinking, socializing with listeners, and use of company vehicles. This is another area where you are never to far away from expensive litigation. Have a firm policy, review it with your PD(s), and consult your lawyer if necessary.

Have you checked the Public File recently? It's one of those things that gets overlooked. Check it. Make sure you have everything from legal. Posted openings and outreach updated? Any FCC permits ... letters from listeners (the good ones) or ascertainment meetings? It all must be there.

Letting someone go is neither pleasant nor cheap. Make sure you have a paper trail on anyone being let go. Know the rules on constructive dismissal. Then "get it done" with poise and empathy. Make sure your business manager is in the room with you, and leave the terminated employee with dignity.

Here's one you didn't have to deal with five years ago: Don't pay attention to blogs about your station or city. Many times they're the writings of disgruntled ex-employees. For the little truth posted, there is a lot of BS. It makes you and your staff crazy. Take it with a grain of salt.

Are you generating any Internet/podcasting revenue? Given the slow growth of national revenue, the issue of online may need another look. BTW, PPM is coming to major markets soon. How are you going to operate your stations in order to take advantage of it. Keep an eye on the progress in the cities that already have it.
