Now is the time to plan holiday promotions. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. Don't spend needless money on promotions that lose money. Each promotion should be looked at as a revenue and cash-flow generator. The margin of profit should equal or exceed your overall cash flow margin.

How is the quarter going? Before we tackle Q4, let's make sure Q3 is closed. Are your collections over 90 days addressed? If you missed the revenue in Q3, there is time in the year to make it up, but not much. Time to push to the finish line.

If you carry Rush, you have to be loving all the press this week. Controversy causes tune-in. Make the most of it by promoting your other shows in his program. The PD will think you're so smart if you suggest it to them.

Are you having pictures taken of the jocks for the website? Image is more important than ever. I always wonder if the jock pictures look bad, will it reflect on the station? The old phrase, "they have a great face for radio" may apply here. Make sure your air staff looks good. Looking as good as the artists you play should be the goal. The Internet and your website are important. How your staff is portrayed to the audience is, too!

Have an opening? Has it been posted? Your website, sister stations and community leaders all MUST be contacted with the information (unless you are promoting from within). Make a sincere effort. The FCC is issuing fines for non-compliance.
