How do you know the ax is about to fall on you? As a GM, it will happen if you are experiencing the following;
- Missing goals for more than one year in a row.
- Little communication from corporate.
- Lack of information about upcoming plans for the market.
- Your boss simply stops talking to you, or becomes very distant.If any of these (or all) happen to you, it's time to dust off the rolodex. You may want to start looking around. Good luck!

Did you recently get a new company president? What happens to GM's when there is a change at the top? This week we are examining the effect on GM when there is a senior management level change. When the new boss calls for the first time, before they really know you, what they really want to know is;
- Do I need to worry about this market? If you are doing ok, give them an air of confidence that YOU are in charge. They are making a "hot" list of troubled markets or stations. You don't want to be on it. If you are in charge, have a plan, minimize the drama, and make your numbers, you will continue to thrive without the hassle. Issues equal attention. Tomorrow, when things go south. How to tell.

This week we are discussing the "change at the top." What happens when you get a new company president? If you get that first call from the new boss, make sure you are prepared with the following three pieces of information;
- Where are you to budget?
- What is your biggest issue/problem with the station or cluster?
- What do you need from me? (don't be shy.....ask!)Remember, he/she may engage in light conversation. But, what is really happening can be an interview with you at the same time. Remember all the first impression rules. They all apply here.
Tomorrow, what new bosses really want?

This week we are discussing the "change at the top." What happens when you get a new company president? Although the new company president may take as much as six months to fully grasp all the issues, if you are in the middle of the following, it may be sooner than later,
- If you are the worst market in the company, (ratings, sales) you will be the first in line for a "re-evaluation." Prepare to defend your performance. (if you can.)
- If you are in the middle of any lawsuits or FCC investigations, you are at the top. Get ready for the "who is running that market?" If it's you, prepare for attention. Tomorrow, the three issues the "new boss" wants to know.

Did you recently get a new company president? What happens to GM's when there is a change at the top? In the next few days we will examine the effect on GM when there is a senior management level change. The first question every GM asks is "Am I OK? The answer is usually yes....for a while. Remember it usually takes a new company president six to eight months to get to know everyone. There are lot's of "corporate" issues to align before they get to your station. Exceptions? You bet! Tomorrow, we will examine them.
