I am amazed at the people that still wonder if their station should be streaming. Hello? There are over 240 million computers with audio capability. Yes, I know about the Arbitron rules on simulcasting audio (www.arbitron.com) and the union issues, BUT, if you are NOT putting your audio on line you are missing a growing segment of your audience. Do it right away. Don't ponder the issue any longer. Get on line whatever the cost. Think of it as another transmitter. You are no longer in the am/fm broadcasting business....you are in the audio content creation/distribution business......or else! Have a great weekend, let's pick up more of this Monday.

Ok, as we discussed yesterday, if you are going to devote a full time position to internet sales, you must have something to look at. No offense, but mere pictures of your morning show, and a link to local businesses won't cut it today. People want rich on line content. Audio, video, information for the station target, in addition to your clients advertising MUST be a part of your thinking in 2007. Tomorrow, stream or get creamed!

As we discussed yesterday, much of the growth in radio revenue is instead, going to "on line" advertising. Let's be honest here. Are you equipped to capture "on line" revenue? Do you have a person 100% responsible for internet revenue? It is no longer a part time job. Nor is it an "add on" position. If you put a half-assed effort into this growing revenue pie, you will not achieve any of the revenue growth going into the space. Spend the money and make a full time sales position responsible for your web sites. More tomorrow.

If radio revenue in your market is flat, there is a reason. Look no further than the internet that you are reading this column on. Many local retailers are spending money on-line. It's not a flood...yet. But take a look at each of your current accounts. If they are flat to down from last year, chances are they are putting money into on-line. Can they put money on your web site? Tomorrow, and for the next week or so, we will examine if your site is worth it. Check in each day for more information & ideas.

As a manager you must be stressing a bit (as I am ) over the lack of growth in Radio revenue in many markets. What can we do about it? Bitching to corporate and moaning about "the market's flat, slow, bla bla, bla" won't help. This coming weeks we will examine the issues regarding the "perception" of local radio and what we can do about it. Log on to www.allaccess.com each day for more tips on making your numbers. We begin tomorrow.
