Planning the company Christmas Party? Be careful! Hours of open bar can lead to trouble. You are responsible for everything that happens. Limit the "bar" hours. Make sure to arrange for transportation for the people who become "over served." Avoid the "day after" issues that may take you to "lawyerworld." Have I got stories! It's not pretty!

By now you should have the P&L for October. How are you looking YTD? Expenses in line, revenue ok? If you are close on your full year goals, now is the time to plan for the rest of the year. It would be a shame to lose a yearly bonus in the last 60 days.

Before you know it, Thanksgiving will be here. Everyone will be at half power in two weeks. Make sure sales for Thanksgiving week (don't forget black Friday) are set. More on "The Company Holiday Party" soon.

It is never too early to plan the week between Christmas and New Years. Remotes, specials, look for revenue ideas to fill an otherwise dead week.

All of a sudden there are a lot of stations for sale. (Clear Channel? Who would have thought?) Keeping the staff focused is the hardest part of any sale. Remind the staff, no matter who owns the station, the audience doesn't get the memo. Great radio "happens" no matter the owner.
