The spring books are not ready to roll out yet. But you can ask the PD's for a plan if the numbers come back bad. How to tell if your book is going to be bad? If the first 2 extraps are on average lower than your worst month last book, you may be in trouble. Start lowering the expectations of the sales staff. if the book is going to be good, start moving the rate up. (be careful here, no arrogance please). You will pay, vs. get paid. Have a good weekend, talk to you Monday.

Going to make the month? You should know by now. If not, better get a plan. The regional will be all over you. National is tapped out, No agency out there? Ask the GSM to see the sales sheets from the staff for this week. There should be 5 calls per day. (15 thru yesterday per person.) if they aren't making the calls, you are not going to get to the number in the next 2 weeks.

Believe it or not, the budget process will be starting for 2007 in the next 60 days (at most companies.) Your business manager goes into overload from August to November, Now is the time for her to take that vacation with the family. Any help in the business office? They should take it too.

It's not too early to be thinking about the Fall. Research, music testing, marketing for the fall book? Music tests should be scheduled in the next 2 weeks. Otherwise you will miss all the good slots held by the research companies. Got TV? Buy early and save. Remember, TV Cost per points are expensive in November. Creative needs to be done soon to get done by fall. Art for direct mail should be addressed too.

Every so often state organizations, trade groups, or even the FCC conducts mock inspections of the facilities. (although I would not use the work "mock" and FCC in the same sentence.) Check with the Chief, is the plant in proper order? Are the proper licenses in order? (STL licenses too). Are all the logs properly filled out by the jocks? (always a fun one to inspect) and is your public file in order? If you get fined, it will come off your bottom line. And out of your bottom with Corp.
