It's Friday. How is the month shaping up so far? Review avails left in the month with the GSM. Are there avails in the next week? Fill last minute stuff with remnant. (www.softwaveradio.com) Adjust pricing to reflect demand thru the end of the month/quarter. Also a good time to review all sales people on guarantees. (if any) If they are over 90 days and not making draw, push the LSM on a solution. Have the Chief Engineer get an estimate on the van pole damage from last weeks remote. Do it now!

Time to review all the station web sites. Are they updated? Check with the webmaster. (ask GSM again if there is any way to make money on those damn things.) Oh, another thing, review the sexual harassment policies with the department heads. Did you see that crazy jury award on the Infinity station in Detroit? Can that happen to us? Call legal. (ps. just get an opinion. You are NOT on the clock. They shouldn't charge you for the insight.)

National Business is down YTD. Are your national people updated with the latest station information? Call the NY, LA, SF & Dallas offices to get an update from the market manager. You do it, not the NSM this time. (the squeaky wheel gets money. Otherwise, out of sight, out of cash.) Check the NSM's expenses from the last market trip. (the rep should pay for the dinners.) Time to set up a lunch with the summers top 3 advertisers. (golf maybe?) Thank them. Check on fall spending from these 3. Do this now, this morning, today!

Review the monthly P&L. The business manager should have May almost done by now. How did we do? Review each department with the appropriate department head. Any variances will be noticed by corporate. (especially expenses). Have the reasons in advance ready when they call. Make adjustments for the following month/quarter/year/career.

Remind the Department heads (at the weekly meeting - you DO have department head meetings on a regular basis don't you?) that vacation schedules for staff need to be scheduled IN ADVANCE! Let's not get caught short handed this summer. Note to PD. Have all the air staff signed the payola/plugola policy? They must have it, AND HAVE SIGNED IT BY THE END OF THE WEEK.
