I talked to friend on the East Coast who runs a small cluster in a medium market. As you know, most of the Mid-Atlantic got pounded with what locals are calling "Snowmageddon" or the "Snowpacalypse."
He told me he learned a lot.
He equates our need to serve the community not too terribly unlike fireman, policemen, or plow drivers -- we need to be in ... and on.
What he learned was exactly who on his staff got that and who didn't. Who were the first to call and say "I can't come in today," and who were those who said, "Tell me what you need me to do."
He also told me he learned he needs to be better planned for events like this; contingency plans, staffing (Who lives close? Who has a four-wheel drive vehicle? Who can be picked up?).
And, to the first point above ...Who can he count on? Do you know who YOU can count on? Find out soon.
