Do you have a Disaster Plan?
If not, do it soon. It need not be a tornado or earthquake to cause your business to be interrupted.
Previously, I've discussed controlling the controllables.
You'd be surprised about how much of your ability to continue broadcasting and serving your community during an emergency is controllable.
Ask yourself a few of these questions and then keep going...
- If you lose your studios, do you have a back up broadcast location or the ability to go live from your transmitter?
- When was the last time you ...
- Tested your backup generator?
- Checked the batteries in your UPS for computers?
- Tested the remote control transition to back-up transmitter/tower site?
- Do you regularly back up your digital studio system, music scheduling systems, audio files for both programming content and commercials
- And, even something as simple as contact numbers for key people.
You get where I'm going. I have a template for a Disaster Plan if you would like to see it. E-mail me and I'll send it to you.
