Believe it or not, the spring book is right around the corner. Time to start working on your 2006 operational spring plan by department. Make a commitment to spend 1 hour of strategy and planning each day, starting next week. It's the big one of the year!

What are you going to cover in your dept head meeting this week? Are you asking your dept heads to submit quarterly goals? How about having each dept head commit to paper, one person they have targeted from across the street or from outside the market that would have a big impact on their dept and allow for a much needed upgrade.

How are those winter promotions going? Did you take my advice and do client tie-ins with the ski resorts & shops? If you missed your opportunity, now is the time to develop those relationships so you don't get left out in the cold for next winter.

Your used car dealers are complaining that business is down, due to all the “employee pricing” incentives from the Big 3. This problem is not going away any time soon, so now would be a good time to develop at least 4-5 great ideas to put customers on the used car lots instead of the new car lots.

Last day of the month, what percent of budget are you? Based on historical in-month adds, do you have enough pending to get to your Feb budget? Don't start the month without a chance to hit your budget, hold A/E's and SM's accountable for filling the pending revenue pipeline.
