I have always required my PDs to program the station every minute of every day.
Yes, we install a format, we build a plan and hopefully, execute it soundly. But...
What you doing to seize the moment every day?
- Is your PD on top of major news stories? Last Friday for example, the day the new Tiger Woods commercials debuted with Tiger looking into the camera "listening" to the voice of his late father. Did you see all the parodies on YouTube? Did you link to them from your site? Did your morning show air some of the parody audio? Maybe it's not "right" for your format, but you get the idea.
Thursday is Tax Day. Cliché for radio, I know, but if you do something a little more clever than the other guy, you just might get TV coverage ... or at the very least, do something solid for your listeners. Check back tomorrow. I'll have some last-minute ideas for you.
