It's actual behavior so if you are playing a song that's not right on target, a feature that drags on, or providing anything that is not within the realm of expectation of your audience, you are very vulnerable.
Media Monitors provides a service called Audience Reaction. If you have not seen it, call and ask for a demo. You can listen to a monitor and watch panelist reaction as the programming goes along ... Meters in, Meters out, and you as a sharp GM with your PD can often know exactly why they left -- just by listening.
