Spotify Movie Streaming Service?

Spotify’s new iPod and Android sync is just the latest innovation for the European music-streaming service. However, if rumors are correct, it may become a European music and movie-streaming service before it becomes a US service of any kind. Despite denials from Spotify, several media outlets have reported that Spotify has reached tentative agreements with movie studios in anticipation of adding movie streaming.

Reportedly, Spotify would have access to movies sooner than with Netflix or iTunes,. The significance of this is that movie-streaming services tend to be much less advanced than they are in the US. The UK has more access to streaming movies than does the continent. So, given Spotify’s already-prominent position and strong reputation for music, even if there are no deals in place yet, this kind of move seems like a good fit.
