Facebook Dominates Display Ads

Here’s another fascinating stat for Facebook: over 1/3 of all display ads in the US for Q1 2011 were served by Facebook. ComScore reports that Facebook served up about 350 million display ads (out of a total of 1.1 trillion) in the first quarter. This is just about double what Facebook did in Q1 2010. The CPMs are still low for social networking sites, but the sheer volume of ads is another feather in Facebook’s cap.
Facebook was the leader in display ads. The next 3 on the list were:
- Yahoo with 112 billion
- Microsoft with 54 billion
- AOL with 33 billion
