Netflix Surpasses Cable & Satellite Providers

Netflix achieved another milestone in the first quarter of 2011, with total subscribers climbing to 22.8 million, more than any cable or satellite TV provider. Netflix grew by about 8 million subscribers in the past year, far outpacing the other services. In fact, many traditional providers suffered a net loss in the last year.
Still, many households subscribe to both Netflix and a TV provider. Here are the biggest providers:

• Comcast: 22.76 million
• DirecTV: 19 million
• Dish Network: 14 million
• Time Warner: 13 million
• Charter: 4 million
