Turntable.fm is a unique experience in the world of music discovery. It’s still only in beta, so if you want to try it, you have to find a Facebook friend who’s already in to send you an invite. The platform was founded by Seth Goldstein and Billy Chasen and went live in May 2011. They recently wrapped at $7million round of funding with investors ranging from Union Square Ventures to Kanye West and Lady Gaga.

In taking a look under the hood, as of August, Turntable had 300,000 registered users, an undoubtedly impressive number but not quite as high as was being projected for the platform. And, until the SESAC and EMI deals are inked, there is no European access.
