Netflix: Bad News

TV on the web is a fast-changing business, with multiple TV Everywhere apps launching, with Hulu up for sale, and with projects such as the UltraViolet initiative getting ready for launch. But no entity has been busier than Netflix. On September 1st, Netflix' controversial new pricing plan went into effect, angering many long-time users.

Just as the new pricing system kicked in, Starz announced they would not be renewing their deal with Netflix, limiting Netflix streaming offerings. The timing was doubly unfortunate since Netflix had said that the new pricing structure was necessary to cover the increased costs of content acquisition for the streaming service.
