The next iteration of the iPhone will be rolled out shortly. As we get closer to the debut, more details of the new features and upgrades in iPhone 5 are coming to light. According to 9to5Mac, they start with some of the basic upgrades that you’d expect: a faster processor, more RAM, upgraded cameras, etc. But there are two other features that are going to be significant changes from previous versions: a dual GSM/CDMA chip and a software addition called “Assistant.”
The dual chip means that the same phone can be used by carriers that use the GSM technology (AT&T, T-Mobile and most other carriers around the world), as well as those that use CDMA (Verizon). So if you have a Verizon phone and you travel overseas, you’ll be able to use your phone. The other addition, “Assistant,” takes the current “Voice Control” feature to a whole new level.
