New Facebook Engagement Metrics

For years, brands and companies have been furiously engaged in increasing the number of “Likes” on their Facebook pages. Now, according to Mashable, Facebook is planning on adding new metrics to their Pages Insight analytics tool. One of the most important, tentatively called “People Talking About,” is a straight-forward attempt to go beyond “Likes,” which occur on a one time basis, and give users and marketers a more useful stat to track user engagement and interest.
This new metric will record various forms of user engagement, including posting to a Wall, adding a “Like,” mentioning a page, answering a questions aimed at fans, etc. It’s also one that users will see, as well as administrators of brand and media Pages. Facebook is adding a couple of others that are just for the administrators.
