Talent vs. Tweets

Interesting post from Bob Lefsetz this week regarding artists and social networking. He argues that if your music is truly good, you don't need to participate in all the hype of Facebook, Twitter, and pandering to the crowd. He concludes "Social network if you must... But it's no substitute for incredible music. At all." Absolutely true. However, if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it... The question is whether in this world of constant advertising and promoting, don't you have to play they game to get heard?
