The Newspaper Business: Back to the Future

The Business Insider drew our attention to this chart showing the inflation-adjusted revenue picture for the newspaper business. It's a very ugly picture. In a nutshell, newspaper industry revenue is virtually the same now as it was in 1950. In fact, if it weren't for what little revenue newspapers have generated from online, the (inflation-adjusted) total revenue picture would be worse than it was 1950. Revenue is less than 1/3 of what it was just 8 years ago.
