A recent article by All Things D this week pointed out that this is the first year that music has been a growth business since 1999, the "Napster era". Global record sales had notably gone downhill since then, but in the last year recorded music sales bumped up to .3% worldwide. This is good news for the industry, and could mean the fulfillment of the long-held prediction that "digital sales are increasing enough to outpace the decline in physical."
