Spotify Launches Top 50 Charts

Spotify rolled out Top 50 charts this week, which list the 50 most-played and most-shared songs on the service – or the "Spotify 50" and the "Social 50". These charts, updated weekly, will "use listener data to determine the most popular music in a particular country." And contrary to the Wall Street Journal reports, these charts will not be available to those who do not have the Spotify desktop application. The application will need to run in the background in order for users to play music from the charts. Read more about the new Spotify charts here.
