According to Shazam's company figures, the popular song identification app is responsible for generating about 10% of digital music sales worldwide. In this day and age, this is an especially important statistic for new and upcoming artists whose music may not be on music ID apps – as this is key revenue that they are potentially missing out on (music can easily be submitted online).
