In a surprising move this week, cellphone carrier T-Mobile announced that they would be eliminating ridiculously high international roaming charges. This is yet another move by T-Mobile to lower costs for customers and cut into big competitors like AT&T and Verizon – this year they also eliminated 2-year contracts and did away with the annoying 15-second voicemail instruction recordings that callers have to listen to before they try to leave a message for someone. Regarding the unprecedented dropping of roaming charges, T-Mobile CMO Mike Sievert said "The big carriers have created a perception that it costs this much. But it really doesn't."
