Disney Officially Acquires Maker Studios

Following rumors of a pending acquisition, it was officially announced that Disney has purchased Maker Studios for a whopping $500 million. This is the largest purchase ever of a multi-channel network, and will combine Maker's substantial digital audience with Disney's massive brand and consumer base. According to Disney, who will pay an extra $450 million for Maker if aggressive growth targets are met, "Maker already has a very large audience that will only keep growing, and that is something that would be hard to build on our own".
