Peer-to-peer file sharing services, which in 2011 accounted for about 22% of daily internet traffic in North America, reportedly now represent only about 8% of daily traffic. The decline of this content pirating tool is likely directly correlated with the rise of music streaming services – according to Dan Deeth, Internet trends manager at Sandvine, "Subscribers get quality content at a reasonable price and it's dead simple to use, whereas torrenting or file sharing is a little more complicated."
