A new RIAA study released last week revealed some interesting insight into the current state of music sales. According to the study, music sales for the first half of 2014 were about 5% lower than that of the previous year, but total revenue from downloads and streaming combined remained about the same as they were in 2014. This means that there has been a shift in the proportion of music consumption habits. More specifically, "downloads were about 69 percent of this category, by revenue, with the rest made up by streaming; this year, downloads were only 60 percent."
