Billboard Album Charts Makeover

Billboard announced a major revamping of their album charts this week. The new, made-over chart (which tracks the top 200 albums of the week by sales alone) will debut on December 4th and will include on-demand streaming and digital track sales (via Nielsen) in its algorithm. According to Billboard, "It is the most substantial methodology update since May 1991, when Billboard first used Nielsen's point-of-sale data -- SoundScan -- to measure album sales."
