New Sony Pictures Chairman Announced

In the wake of chairman Amy Pascal's firing last week, Sony Pictures announced her replacement today as Tom Rothman, head of TriStar and former co-leader of 20th Century Fox's filmed entertainment division. Following the highly publicized Sony scandal, many are speculating that CEO Michael Lynton chose Rothman largely in part for his known fiscal responsibility and stability as an executive. According to Lynton, "Tom's creativity, strong talent relationships and track record of enduring films and commercial success are unparalleled in this industry and exactly what we are looking for to grow our film business."
