Facebook Messenger Payments Launch

This week Facebook announced the launch of their in-house peer-to-peer payments service through the Messenger app. The new capability allows users to tie their debit cards to the app in order to send money to friends, and directly aligns Facebook in competition with other payment apps like Venmo and Square.
