Twitter Launches Livestreaming App

Twitter officially unveiled their livestreaming app Periscope this week, after acquiring the technology in January for a reported $100 million. The app allows users to stream audio and video live from their smartphones, and link to it through Twitter. The launch of Periscope comes on the heels of the similar app Meerkat making huge waves at SXSW, raising $14 million in funding, and subsequently being blocked from Twitter.
