Canada set an example for the broadcasting industry this week when its government told telecom companies that they need to unbundle their cable service and offer channels a la carte by 2016. And unlike American telecom companies, the Canadian telecoms did not fight the decision and even supported it as something that will "give Canadians increased choice, while providing producers, broadcasters and distributors more freedom and flexibility to innovate."
