Nielsen has been working on providing a system to measure "total audience" numbers, which include already measured live, DVR, and on-demand statistics, viewing on smartphones, computers, and tablets, as well as viewing on connected devices. The goal is to capture unmeasured viewing numbers for non-traditional time-shifted content on computers, app, etc. According to Nielsen, "In Q4 2014, traditional TV reached an average of 285 million viewers each month with more than 181 million of these consumers watching time-shifted TV."
