Facebook to Test Music Videos

In a big move to pull music videos away from YouTube and onto their platform, Facebook is planning to test out the addition of music videos to their news feed feature. The social media giant is reportedly in talks with the major labels and is planning a "test run" with selected music videos later this year. The ad rev split for the videos would be similar to YouTube's model: 45% to Facebook, 55% to rights holders. According to Billboard "Facebook is said to be looking to sew up licensing deals with the major labels on the pilot program as quickly as possible in order to get its music video trial underway (and to do what it does best -- collect data on it.)
