It was reported this week that 3 of the major record labels are considering pulling their most prominent artists music videos from YouTube. Sources say the reasoning behind the potential dispute is the fact that despite being the most popular destination for streaming music, the company pays the lowest royalty rates to the labels (55% labels/45% YouTube). Labels are reportedly hesitant to pull their music from YouTube, but are trying to negotiate a fairer revenue share split for their artists while "quietly increasing their support of other platforms like Vessel and Snapchat."
