This week Facebook unveiled new "spherical" technology for their online videos, which allow for 360-degree immersion that users can "move through". The new videos, which are still currently being tested on the platform, are shot using 24 cameras working in concert to allow users to view the same video from different angles and vantage points. Although there is no word on when the new spherical videos will debut on the news feed, but Facebook has begun to ask 3rd-party publisher to create them for sharing on the platform. Read more on Wired about how this move "is a small taste of how Facebook plans to move into the world of virtual reality in the months and years to come."
