Amazon Dominates Online Retail

A recent survey of online retail outlets has revealed that Amazon is a clear leader in the space, with about 44% of the 2000 survey respondents preferring to go directly to Amazon for online purchases. About 34% of those surveyed go to Google first. And while it is no great surprise that Amazon is very popular, the survey is significant because they last time it was conducted in 2012 Amazon was only the top starting point for 30% of respondents. According to ReCode, "The new results highlight Amazon's increased success in making its name synonymous with online shopping in the U.S and distancing itself from brick-and-mortar retailers".
