Lionsgate/Starz Merger?

It was reported this week that major movie/TV studio Lionsgate and movie channel Starz are in advanced talks to merge companies. According to sources, no deal has been made final yet, but there are a variety of partnership scenarios being discussed by execs at both companies. According to the LA Times, the reasoning behind the potential merger is "that as major cable and satellite TV distributors consolidate, smaller players will need to join forces in order to survive."
