Apple Music finally released paid subscriber numbers this week, following the ending of their initial 3-month free trial. According to CEO Tim Cook, the streaming music service currently has 6.5 million paying subscribers -- which (based on post-launch numbers) means that they have lost about 40% of the users who initially signed up for the free-trial. To put that 6.5 million-user figure in perspective, that's almost 200,000 more paying users than Deezer, but about 13.5 million less than Spotify. And according to sources, "Spotify have had some seriously big figures to announce for a while now… they've been waiting for Apple to show their hand, and then they're going to shout from the rooftops."
