Jon Stewart/HBO Content Deal

Jon Stewart made headlines this week with the signing of an exclusive 4-year HBO production deal. The deal does not require Stewart to launch a new TV show, but includes the production of short-form digital content focused on timely current events. The new content will exist on HBO Now and HBO GO, and as a less advertised on-demand selection for HBO's cable subscribers. Sources say HBO is pushing their digital platforms for Stewarts' new content for two reasons: 1) to sell more subscriptions, and 2) to "get pay TV providers like Comcast on board and support HBO Now by selling it themselves."
